Hints and Tips

Creating a great profile is the key to finding success on Single Muslim! However, we know this can be a daunting task so we've put together these guidelines to help you create a successful profile.

Your Profile

  • Personal Details
The great thing about chatting to potential matches on Single Muslim is that you can remain anonymous. We respect your privacy and don't divulge any personal information to anyone. For this reason we don't allow you to enter any personal contact information in your profile. Please use our private messaging features to communicate with your matches until you're sure you trust them. For more information about how we protect you and your data, please see our Privacy and Security guide.
  • Be Unique
We're all unique, so make an effort to show off your own personality and individuality as this is what makes you different from everyone else on Single Muslim. Make sure you stand out from the crowd and be noticed!
  • Writing Style
Make sure your profile is an interesting read. Try adding some humour but don't turn it into a joke. Also, poor spelling, punctuation and grammar gives a negative impression and makes your profile look less thought-out. Read your profile out aloud when you've written it and think about what it says to you.
  • Honesty is the best policy
By being honest from the start you will save yourself a lot of hassle in the long run. Otherwise you'll end up getting found out and probably ruin any chances of success with that person as things progress.

Your Pictures

  • Picture Quality
The quality of your pictures is probably the most important part when choosing which pictures to put on your profile. Poor lighting and blurred images are the least flattering. In your Primary Picture, make sure your face is clearly visible and remember to smile!
  • A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words
Use your Public and Private Galleries to reinforce your personality and build up a better picture of yourself. Use pictures of yourself doing your favourite pastime, or with the people who mean the most to you in life. For example, if you claim to be a social person, show this off by having group pictures of you and your friends or family having fun.
  • Your Primary Photo
This should be a clear head-and-shoulders picture to show people what you look like. First impressions really do count, so make sure your Primary Photo is the best picture you have!
  • Photo Captions
Adding a caption to your photos is a great way to share the moment with others. These will give an insight to your personality and level of confidence. For example, "I look better in real life", or "I'm not photogenic" aren't the most flattering comments to make! There's no excuse for uploading a picture which says negative things about you. If you find yourself writing this sort of caption, add a different picture.
