I have previously been in contact with one of the brothers at single muslim in regards to finding success (mashallah) on your website. At the time i was discussing our story we were in the middle of planning the wedding and as such have not been in touch for a few months.
The wedding was on the 16th August this year and mashallah everything went well. Our success story is simple i suppose, sumia was using single Muslim for a few weeks before i was, then i joined. As i was browsing through profiles for sunni muslim girls aged 18-25 and i came across sumias profile. At first i must admit i thought she was pretty mashallah which promted me to read about her and was intersted because she said she was a nurse, im am a trainee doctor so instantly i felt we would be potentially good for each other, at least we had something in common.
I sent a message to sumia and she responded and said my profile was nice and that i seemed a nice man. we made it clear to each other that we were serious about marriage and had no interest what so ever in a haram relationship. After a week or so of sending each other messages we decided to take it to the next step and speak to each other on the phone. We got on well and sumia seemed to be practising and seemed to have a good islamic knowlede base.
I am a convert to Islam of only 18months (i was only muslim for 6months before meeting sumia) , and sumia was impressed with this, mashallah i have learnt so much and that i try to practice Islam without the usual cultural influences.
When sumia and i met for the first time we got on very well and talked for hours about many topics, Islamic and other topics. We decided to meet again and after a few weeks we were happy to get married.
Sumia is of Pakistani origin and i am a white convert so we were both concerned about how difficult if could be to convince her family to marry outside of her family/culture/village. but Alhamdlliah a blessing from Allah swt, her family were completely fine with the mixed culture and we have a very close relationship.
